Job Description

We are seeking a talented and dedicated Commis II to join our culinary team in Baghdad, Iraq. As a Commis II, you will play a crucial role in maintaining high standards of food preparation and service in our kitchen, contributing to our commitment to culinary excellence.

  • Stock the assigned kitchen with raw materials and ingredients daily
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Master basic cooking methods, including cutting ingredients and preparing daily mise en place for assigned stations
  • Prepare food items according to standard recipe cards, maintaining portion control and minimizing waste
  • Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP) in all kitchen operations
  • Clean and maintain all equipment within the food production area
  • Report any hazards, unsafe working conditions, or equipment requiring repair to the immediate supervisor
  • Participate in kitchen briefings, meetings, and training sessions as assigned by management
  • Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times
  • Assist in controlling food portioning and wastage to ensure gross food profitability
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and timely food service

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in a five-star international chain hotel or equivalent culinary setting
  • Proficiency in basic cooking methods, including ingredient preparation and mise en place
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP)
  • Ability to read and execute recipes accurately
  • Excellent knife skills and food presentation abilities
  • Proficient in operating and maintaining kitchen equipment
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform kitchen tasks for extended periods
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and consistency
