Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Commis l to join our culinary team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. As a Commis l, you will play a crucial role in supporting our kitchen operations and contributing to the creation of exceptional dining experiences for our guests.
- Master basic cooking methods, including ingredient cutting techniques and daily mise en place preparation for assigned stations
- Prepare food items according to standard recipe cards, maintaining portion control and minimizing waste
- Adhere to and implement food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP) in all kitchen activities
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment
- Manage daily stock of raw materials and ingredients for the assigned kitchen area
- Operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Assist in the preparation and execution of menu items as directed by senior kitchen staff
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and timely food service
- Continuously learn and improve culinary skills under the guidance of experienced chefs
- Contribute to the overall cleanliness and organization of the kitchen
- Degree in Hotel Management, Culinary Arts, or equivalent culinary education
- Strong knowledge of basic cooking methods and kitchen operations
- Proficiency in ingredient cutting techniques and mise en place preparation
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP)
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items when necessary
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new culinary techniques and recipes
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Basic math skills for recipe conversions and inventory management
- Ability to read and follow recipes and standard operating procedures
- Knowledge of international cuisines, particularly those popular in Dubais diverse culinary scene
- English language proficiency; knowledge of Arabic is a plus
- Legal eligibility to work in Dubai, United Arab Emirates
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the same or similar role
- Prior experience working with Opera or a related system
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
- Fluency in English, additional languages are a plus
