Roles & Responsibilities


The Department of Surgery is the largest surgical department at our client hospital serving the people of Saudi Arabia and providing national leadership in surgical science for nearly 30 years.

It consists of nine sub-specialty sections, including: Breast and Endocrine, Colorectal Surgery, General and Minimally Invasive Surgery, Ophthalmology, Pediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Renal and Pancreatic Transplant, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery.

As of 2006, the department is staffed by 27 consultant, 9 Assistant, 19 Residents, and 12 Administrative /Support/Technical.

In 2006, a total of 4,556 OR cases were performed.

Prior to offering a permanent (1-2 years) contract, the hospital may invite doctors for a one-month locum. This provides an opportunity to visit the hospital, check out the department, and see Riyadh and Saudi Arabia. This gives you the time to decide if all your critical needs and desires such as geography, income potential, practice style, administrative agendas, and community profile line up with your long-term goals.

Desired Candidate Profile

Medical degree, and

  • US Board, or Irish, UK, Canadian, New Zealand or Australian FRCS, or Diplome d'fEtudes Specialises (DES)/CIS French Board, or German Facharzt, and
  • Valid and current medical license/registration in North America, Western Europe, or Australia/New Zealand, and
  • A minimum of 3-4 years post-specialty certification experience in the specialty area in a mid- to large-size hospital in North America, Western Europe, or Australia/New Zealand.
