Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Cost Control Manager oversees project budgets, cost forecasting, and financial reporting to maximize profitability. They develop cost control procedures, monitor project expenditure, manage variations/claims, and provide strategic insights to senior management, acting as the bridge between project teams and finance.


Key Responsibilities


  • Strategic Planning & Budgeting: Develop, implement, and enforce cost control policies, procedures, and systems across all projects.

  • Cost Monitoring & Analysis: Regularly track project costs (labor, material, equipment) against budgets to identify variances and opportunities for cost reduction.

  • Forecasting & Reporting: Prepare detailed cash flow forecasts and monthly/quarterly financial reports for senior management regarding project health.

  • Variance Management: Identify, analyze, and report on cost inconsistencies, proposing corrective actions to prevent overruns.

  • Contract & Risk Management: Manage claim variations, analyze financial exposure, and assess risks, ensuring compliance with contractual terms.

  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and train the cost control team to improve technical proficiency.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with project managers, procurement, and finance departments to align procurement with budgetary constraints.


Desired Candidate Profile


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Finance.

  • Experience: Proven experience in cost control management within the construction industry, including pre- and post-contract stages.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in cost management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle), ERP systems, and MS Office (advanced Excel).

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g., FIDIC), cost engineering, and estimation techniques.

  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical capabilities, leadership abilities, effective negotiation skills, and clear communication.
