The role ensures that the design is fully coordinated, buildable, compliant with contractual and authority requirements, and translated into high‑quality shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements. The position acts as the single technical focal point between the Client, Consultants, Authorities, and BESIX internal teams, ensuring that design intent is maintained while being optimized for constructability, safety, cost, and programme.
Design Management & Coordination
Lead the overall design coordination process across all disciplines (Architectural, Structural, MEP, and Specialist Systems).
Manage interfaces between designers, specialist subcontractors, and construction teams.
Chair and structure design coordination meetings with consultants, client representatives, and internal stakeholders.
Ensure timely production, review, and approval of all design deliverables in line with the Design Management Plan.
Identify design risks early and drive resolution through technical workshops and alternative solutions.
Ensure compliance with contract requirements, specifications, codes, and local authority regulations.
Transition from Design to Construction
Translate design intent into buildable solutions aligned with BESIX construction methodology.
Lead constructability reviews and value‑engineering initiatives in collaboration with Construction, Planning, and Commercial teams.
Ensure that design outputs support the agreed construction sequence and site logistics.
Shop Drawings & Technical Submittals
Establish and manage the Shop Drawing, Material Submittal, and Method Statement registers.
Lead the preparation, review, and coordination of:
Shop Drawings
Material Submittals and Technical Data Sheets
Method Statements and ITPs
Ensure consistency between the approved design, shop drawings, and on‑site execution.
Coordinate inputs from specialist subcontractors and integrate them into the overall technical package.
Stakeholder & Authority Management
Act as the primary technical interface with the Client, Consultant, and Authorities.
Manage technical approvals and authority submissions in coordination with permitting teams.
Build credibility and trust with clients through technical expertise and structured communication.
Team Leadership & Governance
Lead and mentor project engineers and discipline leads.
Define and implement the Project Design Management Plan (DMP).
Set clear priorities, deliverables, and deadlines for the design team.
Ensure compliance with BESIX governance, quality systems, and reporting standards.
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related construction discipline.
12–15 years of experience in large‑scale construction projects, ideally within Design & Build or Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) environments.
Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary design teams on complex, high-profile projects (e.g., stadiums, museums, high-rise developments).
Strong background in:
Coordinating Architectural, Structural, and MEP design deliverables
Overseeing shop drawing production and approval workflows
Managing material submittals, technical data evaluations, and approval processes
Prior experience in the Middle East, with solid knowledge of local authority regulations, permitting procedures, and submission requirements.
