Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain endoscopic equipment, ensuring all instruments are sterile and operational for each procedure.
- Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures, providing both technical support and patient care throughout the process.
- Monitor patient vital signs and sedation levels, promptly reporting any changes to the physician to ensure patient safety.
- Educate patients about the endoscopy process, addressing their concerns and preparing them for pre-and post-procedure care.
- Perform thorough assessments of patients, documenting medical history and relevant information in the electronic health record.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans that enhance patient outcomes.
- Manage patient recovery post-procedure, including observing for complications and providing necessary interventions.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and safety regulations specific to the endoscopy unit.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the enhancement of endoscopic practices and patient experiences.
- Engage in continuous education and training to stay updated on the latest advancements in endoscopic techniques and technologies.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Registered Nurse (RN) with an active nursing license and a minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
- Certification in Gastroenterology Nursing (CGN) or Endoscopy Nursing Certification (CEN) is highly desirable.
- At least 2 years of clinical experience in a nursing role, preferably in a surgical, critical care, or endoscopy setting.
- Familiarity with endoscopic equipment and procedures, demonstrating hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to remain calm and focused during high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively educating patients and collaborating with healthcare teams.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems to ensure accurate documentation and patient tracking.
- Ability to lift and move patients safely, demonstrating physical stamina and strength necessary for the role.
- Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus to accommodate diverse patient populations.
- A compassionate and empathetic demeanor, dedicated to providing exceptional patient-centered care.
