Engineer Level 3 - Core Network Maintenance (Field Operations) eMinds

Handle Fixed Network Operation & Maintenance activities of OTN(DWDM)/IP-Core/Access Equipment(GPON):

·Traffic (Provision, Cessations, Re-routing).

·Network failures due to traffic & Hardware.

·Network Planned outages/hazardous.

·Network hardware inventory & associated fixed asset.

·Network hardware repair & return process.

Depending upon the assignment the jobholder performs all or any of the following provision/ maintenance & fault rectification functions in respect of the assigned Core Network elements- (DWDM/IP-CORE EQUIPMENT).

• Carries out simple and routine provision/maintenance & fault rectification tasks in respect of the assigned Core(OTN /IP CORE Nodes) and Fixed Network elements(GPON), attends to the assigned major/non-routine tasks under supervision, guidance, and support of seniors.
• Assists in carrying out the prescribed test routines using different types of test equipment.
• Implements the fault rectification procedures of equipment, ensures conformance to the prescribed standards and procedures.
• Support maintenance activities including requisitioning, receiving, acceptance testing, mobilization to work site. In addition, handling store issue and utilization of spares, tools and equipment.
• Attends, analyzes, and clears faults reported by NOC’s. Furthermore, informs the major faults to superiors for review.
• Assists in locating and clearing Junction F.O Cable Network faults. Attends assigned duties including call-out/emergencies.
• To be able to use craft terminal/test equipment to access & localize faults.
• Maintains and updates records in section DB.
• Demonstrates initiative in updating knowledge and skills in respect of the new equipment technology introduced to core networks.
• Undertakes full responsibility of all equipment in his area.
• Assist in clearance of Fixed asset variation.
• Assist in the follow up of repair & return process of recovered faulty hardware (cards).
• Assists in preparing the following.
• Staff monthly timesheet.
• Staff access to transmission sites.
• Coordination with Admin to get necessary approvals.
• Attend ATP for New Nodes and Expansion in Network and clear ACL from the perspective of Maintenance Team.
• Responsible for the Acceptance of Newly installed ODF’s and Junction Cables in The Network.
