Roles & Responsibilities

Role Summary

We are seeking a high-calibre Equipment Rental Manager who will take full ownership of the rental business unit. The successful candidate will lead operations, fleet utilization, commercial growth, and client relationships. This role is critical to bridging the gap

between technical, operational, and commercial functions, and ensuring the business becomes more profitable, efficient, and competitive.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic & Operational Leadership

· Develop and implement the strategic plan for the rental division aligned with corporate goals (revenue growth, market share, utilization, margins).

· Oversee all operational functions: fleet scheduling, maintenance, logistics, delivery & pickup, dispatch, and rental returns.

· Monitor KPIs: utilization rate, fill rate, revenue per unit, downtime, maintenance cost per hour, return on assets.

· Forecast demand, plan for fleet expansion or rationalization, including purchase or disposal decisions.

· Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce costs, and improve turnaround times.

2. Commercial & Business Development

· Drive business development: identify, negotiate, and close contracts with new clients (construction, industrial, infrastructure, logistics, etc.).

· Maintain and expand relationships with existing clients; ensure high retention and satisfaction.

· Prepare pricing strategies: rates, discounts, rental terms, contracts, service-level agreements.

· Conduct competitor and market analyses; respond to market changes, propose promotional offers or seasonal campaigns.

· Coordinate with marketing/BD teams for promotions, leads, trade shows, and tenders.

3. Fleet & Asset Management

· Oversee maintenance, repair scheduling, parts procurement, and downtime minimization.

· Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and operational standards for all equipment.

· Plan fleet lifecycle: acquisitions, disposals, refurbishing, and upgrades.

· Manage vendor relations (OEMs, parts suppliers, service contractors).

4. Team Management & Stakeholders

· Lead, supervise, train, and mentor the rental operations team (dispatchers, maintenance supervisors, field staff).

· Establish clear roles, targets, and performance metrics for all subordinates.

· Collaborate with finance, accounting, procurement, HR, and other departments.

· Serve as the interface with senior leadership on rental business performance and strategy.

5. Risk, Safety & Compliance

· Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.

· Enforce best practices in equipment handling, site safety, and staff training.

· Manage insurance, damage claims, and loss prevention.

Desired Candidate Profile

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Mechanical (or related field).

· Minimum 7–10 years of experience in equipment rental, heavy machinery operations, or construction equipment business, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or managerial role.

· Strong technical understanding of forklifts, heavy-lift machinery, hydraulics, mechanical systems, and maintenance practices.

· Proven track record in P&L responsibility, revenue growth, cost control, utilization optimization.

· Leadership skills: team building, coaching, conflict resolution.

· Excellent negotiation, commercial acumen, client relationship skills.

· Strong analytical skills and ability to use data to drive decisions (e.g. Excel, ERP systems).

· Ability to manage multiple locations across the UAE, frequent travel among sites.

· Strong communication skills in English; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
