Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Analyze electrical project specifications, blueprints, and proposals to determine project scope and estimate material, labor, and equipment costs accurately.
  • Prepare detailed and competitive electrical cost estimates, including takeoffs, calculations, and vendor quotes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to clarify project details, resolve discrepancies, and optimize estimation strategies.
  • Conduct site visits and surveys to assess existing electrical systems, identify potential challenges, and gather information for accurate cost estimation.
  • Evaluate and compare vendor quotes, negotiate pricing, and select the most cost-effective suppliers for electrical materials and equipment.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of electrical material costs, labor rates, and equipment rental fees to support accurate and up-to-date estimates.
  • Prepare and present bid proposals and cost breakdowns to clients, highlighting the value proposition and addressing any concerns or questions.
  • Track project costs, monitor variations, and provide regular reports to project management, identifying potential risks and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and changes in electrical codes and regulations to improve estimation accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Utilize estimation software and tools to streamline the estimation process, improve efficiency, and ensure consistency across all projects.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Possesses a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, demonstrating a strong foundation in electrical principles.
  • Holds relevant certifications such as Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) or similar, showcasing commitment to professional development.
  • Demonstrates a minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical estimation within the construction or engineering industry, providing practical expertise.
  • Exhibits a deep understanding of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and control systems, ensuring accurate assessments.
  • Proficient in using estimation software such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and estimation software, enhancing efficiency and accuracy.
  • Displays strong analytical skills and attention to detail, enabling accurate cost calculations and identification of potential issues.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective collaboration with clients, vendors, and project teams.
  • Exhibits strong negotiation and vendor management skills, ensuring cost-effective procurement of materials and equipment.
  • Possesses a proactive and results-oriented approach, consistently meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality estimates.
  • Demonstrates fluency in English (written and verbal), with additional language skills considered an asset for international projects.
