Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Role - Field Density Test Technician (FDT Technician)

Key Responsibilities

1. Field Testing

  • Conduct Field Density Tests (FDT) to determine soil compaction levels at project sites.
  • Perform Plate Load Tests (PLT) when required.
  • Collect soil samples for laboratory testing and documentation.

2. Equipment Handling

  • Operate and maintain testing equipment (sand cone apparatus, nuclear density gauge, plate load equipment).
  • Ensure calibration, safety compliance, and proper functioning of all field testing tools.

3. Documentation & Reporting

  • Record test data accurately in field logs and digital formats.
  • Prepare daily and summary reports for submission to the site engineer or client.
  • Maintain traceable documentation aligned with ASTM / project specifications.

4. Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure adherence to HSE rules and site‑specific safety procedures.
  • Follow testing standards, quality systems, and client protocols.

5. Coordination

  • Coordinate with site engineers, QA/QC teams, and lab technicians regarding test scheduling.
  • Support senior technicians and participate in client inspections when requested.

Skills & Competencies

  • Hands‑on experience in FDT (sand cone / nuclear gauge).
  • Exposure to ASTM standards for soil & field testing.
  • Ability to interpret field test results and communicate findings.
  • Basic English communication skills (Important due to ACI assessment requirements in many projects).
  • Strong attention to detail and field discipline.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications

  • Diploma/ITI in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 1–4 years of experience in soil compaction testing / construction materials testing.
  • Valid UAE Driving License, if site travel is required.
  • ACI‑related assessments may be mandatory depending on the client
