Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Overall Management: Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the hotel's operations, including front desk, housekeeping, food and beverage, maintenance, and administration.

Financial Management: This involves budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to ensure the hotel meets its revenue and profit goals. The GM may also be involved in negotiating contracts with suppliers and vendors to optimize costs.

Staff Management: Recruitment, training, and supervision of staff across various departments are key responsibilities. The GM ensures that staff members are properly trained, motivated, and equipped to provide excellent customer service.

Guest Relations: Maintaining high levels of guest satisfaction is crucial for the success of the hotel. The GM ensures that guests' needs are met promptly and effectively, handling complaints and resolving issues as they arise.

Quality Control: The GM monitors the quality of services provided by the hotel, ensuring that cleanliness, maintenance, and overall guest experience meet or exceed expectations.

Sales and Marketing: Collaborating with the sales and marketing team to develop strategies to attract and retain guests. This may involve participation in promotional activities, advertising, and establishing partnerships with other businesses or organizations.

Compliance and Safety: Ensuring that the hotel complies with all relevant regulations and safety standards. This includes adherence to health and safety protocols, employment laws, and licensing requirements.

Strategic Planning: Developing long-term goals and objectives for the hotel and implementing strategies to achieve them. This may involve identifying opportunities for expansion, renovation, or other improvements to enhance the hotel's competitiveness.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • 12+ years of complete hotel operation management experience
  • Should have knack for details and be able to identify revenue opportunities
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills besides a good command over English
  • African experience is preferable
