Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on various types of generators to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Perform repairs and replacements of generator components, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and manufacturer specifications.
  • Document all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used in a detailed report to maintain accurate service records.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to provide technical support during generator installations or upgrades.
  • Monitor generator performance metrics and report any anomalies to prevent potential failures.
  • Respond promptly to emergency service calls and perform repairs in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
  • Assist in the training of junior technicians and apprentices on best practices and safety measures.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes to continuously enhance technical knowledge.
  • Participate in inventory management to ensure the availability of necessary tools and spare parts for efficient operations.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in electrical engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in generator maintenance and repair, particularly in industrial settings.
  • Certification from recognized organizations such as the Electrical Generating Systems Association (EGSA) is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience with diesel and gas generators, including troubleshooting complex electrical circuits.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints with precision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and clients.
  • Physical stamina to handle the demands of the job, including lifting heavy equipment and working in various environmental conditions.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call shifts as needed.
  • Fluency in English is required; additional language skills are a plus, especially in multicultural environments.
