Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Expertise in international taxation; reviewed alternative tax positions in order to determine the most appropriate cost-effective position.

  • Supporting local and overseas jurisdiction on tax computation/calculation, tax accounting and tax internal reporting.

  • Drafting various legal submissions/appeals and replies to notices and correspondences from the tax department and representing the organization in various tax assessments.

  • Responsible for the overall Tax compliance monitoring, Tax litigation and Tax advisory in relation to International Tax, Corporate tax, VAT, Transfer pricing and other tax matters.

  • Assisting the group Senior Tax Manager in the preparedness of upcoming CIT in UAE and interplay with OECD BEPS Pillar 1 and 2 and other Global Tax Reporting.

  • Responsible for overall tax matters by supporting key stakeholders of multiple functions on various tax advisory, tax planning and restructuring matters across the retail businesses.

  • Support/analyses and interprets proposed changes to legislation and business activities to determine tax impact and ability to administer.  Educating non-tax personnel on tax-related matters.

  • Maintained and analyzed all tax risks positions, corporate tax and deferred taxes provisions and prepare tax disclosure and tax footnote in global consolidated financial statement.

  • Proactively identify tax risks for the business and work with advisors and stakeholders to ensure changes in tax law and regulations are duly complied with.

  • Assist in the development, feasibility modeling, and implementation of Company's global tax strategies. Support key business initiatives; communicate financial impact of taxes in a timely and appropriate manner.

  • Stay up to date with the latest relevant tax legislative changes and support prepare the group for implementation of changes in tax regimes. Perform tax impact assessment, transaction flows analysis, trainings & advisory and systems updates and implementation support.

  • Keep account of tax contingencies (or potential contingencies) associated to key tax positions taken in operating jurisdictions. Identify tax risks by working together with corporate, regional and local finance and business personnel and optimize those tax risks.

  • Withholding/foreign tax management and optimization for cross border transactions of Group’s subsidiaries. Effectively manage utilization of double tax avoidance treaties and withholding tax refunds.

  • Effectively maintain a compliance tracker to plan & ensure tax compliances of subsidiaries.

  • Coordinate with treasury to ensure tax-efficient cash management, including investment, redeployment and repatriation of cash between the company and its foreign affiliates.

  • Conduct a periodic tax health check of relevant business and legal entities from tax control perspective and put in place the required mitigates.

  • Review major contracts from tax perspective and participate with legal and functional teams on finalization of negotiations and dealings.

  • Work with tax automation mindset. Continuously explore opportunities to improve tax controls, framework and tax reporting’s.

  • Analyses cross-border mobility risk for corporate and individual tax consequences and provides suitable tax recommendations.

  • Manage relationships with tax authorities and advisors. Liaison with external auditors as required.

  • Perform Tax modeling to optimize tax and profit at group level. Continually update key business processes across tax regulatory changes within operating jurisdictions and collaborating with responsible divisions to ensure testing successfully conducted before new tax process implementation.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Educational Qualification

    (Consider Education/Experience type and minimum level; Special skills; Certifications and licenses etc.)

     

    • Bachelor Degree or above in Commerce / Economics / Finance/ Taxation with professional qualifications such as a CA, CPA, CTA, or other relevant to tax specialization is necessary.

     

     

     

    Work Experience

    • 5+ years in similar function.

     

     

    Competencies

    (Consider certain technical skills to do the job, Analytical Skills, Persuasives , Strategic Thinking etc.)

     

    • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to train on system usage.

    • Awareness of counties laws, rules and regulations and quickly able to analyze and adapt laws changes.

    • MS Office Package (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Operating Systems such as JDE, SAP and Oracle will be value addition.

    • A good mix of Industry and Advisory firm experience is expected.
