Roles & Responsibilities

Job overview

Job Purpose

This role will manage the PE team, maintain facilities and resources, ensure compliance with health and safety standards, and build partnerships with external sporting bodies.


Job Responsibilities


Leadership & Strategy

• Provide strategic direction and leadership for the PE department in line with the school’s vision and curriculum

• Lead, manage, and support PE staff, including recruitment, induction, appraisal, and professional development

• Organize and oversee inter-house, inter-school, community sporting events & DASSA Competitions / Fixtures.

• Ensure effective and safe use of sports facilities, equipment, and resources.

• Promote a culture of excellence, inclusion, and participation in sport and physical activity.

• Liaise with school leadership, parents, and external sporting bodies to strengthen opportunities for students

• Oversee and manage the schools ECA Program.


 Teaching & Learning

• Deliver high-quality PE lessons across key stages in line with British curriculum standards

• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including gifted athletes and those requiring additional support

• Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and reports to students and parents.

• Model outstanding teaching practice and share best practices across the department.

• Encourage student leadership through roles such as sports captains and team leaders.


 People Management

• Lead, support, and develop the PE staff team, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities

• Conduct staff appraisals, set objectives, and support professional development.

• Mentor colleagues, providing guidance on effective teaching strategies and classroom management.

• Foster collaboration, teamwork, and open communication within the department


Parent and Community Engagement

• Build strong partnerships with parents through regular communication and engagement.

• Represent the school positively in the community and support events that promote school values.


Compliance & Administration

• Ensure compliance with KHDA, school policies and procedures.

• Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation for inspections and reviews.

• Manage resources efficiently and responsibly.


Professional Development & Accountability

• Participate in and contribute to the school’s CPD and appraisal programmes.

• Work closely with the Principal and Key Stage leaders on whole-school development plans.

• Stay informed on educational trends and updates relevant to the British curriculum and UAE 


Qualifications - Postgraduate Certificate in Education or Postgraduate Diploma in Education with QTS
