Department Definition

The main role of the Health and Safety Executive is to manage the environment, health, and safety (EHS) aspects of maintenance, security, and safety services within the school premises, in order to enhance a safe learning environment for students and staff in the school community.

Main Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Carry out health and safety duties and responsibilities as delegated by the School Principal.
• Work to maintain the school environment in accordance with the health and safety principles, guidelines, standards, and regulations set by the Ministry of Education.
• Implement the school s Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, programs, and procedures.
• Participate in the Security and Safety Committee, propose plans related to security and facility safety, and prepare, review, and improve evacuation and emergency plans.
• Ensure that all EHS activities are carried out within the allocated budgets.
• Communicate and monitor the performance of service providers, including maintenance, catering, cleaning, and transportation contractors, in accordance with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Ensure that all EHS activities and inspections are added to the EHS calendar and that key stakeholders are informed.
• Ensure that regular inspections are conducted for maintenance, security, catering, cleaning, and transportation services, and prepare a monthly report.
• Ensure proper reporting of hazards, incidents, injuries, and serious accidents to the Ministry of Education.
• Lead investigations related to health and safety issues or incidents in cooperation with the Environment, Health, and Safety Department.
• Escalate problems and all health and safety related issues or incidents to the School Principal, school leadership, and the Ministry of Education.
• Provide advice, information, guidance, and supervision to staff, students, contractors, and visitors.
• Train and educate staff on safety procedures, facility safety, and fire safety in accordance with approved plans.
• Conduct risk assessments for all school activities and maintain records in the risk register.
• Arrange, coordinate, and/or deliver EHS awareness and orientation training.
• Attend all Environment, Health, and Safety Committee meetings and any other related meetings.
• Undertake any other duties as directed by the school leadership.

Skills

Requirements for UAE Nationals:

• Educational Qualification: Bachelor s degree in Facilities Management, Occupational Health and Safety, or an equivalent degree in engineering fields.
• Minimum GPA: Not less than 2.5.

Skills:

• Proficiency in English, preferably with certificates or training courses in the English language.
• Computer skills, preferably with certificates or training courses in Information Technology.
• Maximum Age: 40 years old.
