Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Design and implement inquiry-based learning experiences in accordance with the History-Geography curriculum, fostering critical thinking.

Facilitate research projects and practical work to deepen students understanding and knowledge.

Provide personalized guidance and support to students to help them reach academic goals and succeed in the Programme.

Collaborate with other programme teachers to ensure interdisciplinary links and coherence across subjects.

Support students in preparation for internal assessments, including the Internal Assessment (IA) component.

Lead discussions on ethical considerations and encourage reflective thinking.

Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment, valuing diversity and fostering mutual respect among students.

Maintain open communication with students and parents, supporting a collaborative learning environment.

Propose and implement innovative teaching projects.

Uphold and promote the school s educational values.

Work collaboratively with colleagues to foster a cohesive, supportive learning environment, share best practices, and contribute to the overall success of the school.

Stay informed of developments in education, attend workshops, and actively engage in professional development opportunities to continually enhance teaching skills.

Manage classrooms effectively, maintain open communication with parents, and employ diverse pedagogical strategies, including differentiated instruction.

Competencies:

Prepare and deliver lessons in line with the curriculum and KHDA recommendations.

Awareness of current trends and developments in History-Geography education.

Integrate technology effectively into teaching and learning activities, including digital resources and online platforms to support student learning.

Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the wider school community.

Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice to improve teaching and student outcomes.

Adaptability and flexibility to meet diverse student needs and changing educational circumstances.

Mastery of English (spoken and written) to communicate effectively with students and colleagues in a bilingual teaching context.

Understanding of programme assessment principles, including criterion-based assessment.

Regular assessment of student progress and implementation of positive assessment practices, including differentiated instruction.

Keep class registers and digital gradebooks up to date.

Prepare students for examinations, ensuring high academic standards.

Participate in pedagogical coordination meetings and collaborate with colleagues.

Contribute to the development of teaching materials and propose innovative pedagogical projects.

Implement school policies and uphold its educational values.

Demonstrate subject expertise, flexibility in teaching style, and a student-centered approach.

Dedicate additional time to meetings, workshops, staff development, and required training.

Deliver lessons in an engaging, creative, and inspiring way while maintaining high standards for oneself and students.

Teach across multiple grade levels and collaborate daily with site coordinators, administrators, and fellow teachers.

Exhibit teamwork, proactivity, resourcefulness, and a willingness to share knowledge and resources with colleagues.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications:

Professional degree or post-graduate qualification recognized for teaching History-Geography at secondary level (French curriculum).

Demonstrated expertise in the subject area, flexible teaching methods, and ability to deliver student-centered learning.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills and professional reporting to parents in English; equivalent proficiency in French is an asset.

Ability to establish and maintain high standards for both oneself and students.

Capacity to deliver lessons in an engaging, creative, and inspiring manner.

Willingness to teach across two grade levels.

Experience:

Experience teaching History-Geography at secondary level.

Experience in a French international school abroad is an advantage.

Knowledge of the French national education system and programs is a plus.

Languages:

Native French

Strong command of English, in spoken and written form, given the school s bilingual context.
