Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer plays a crucial role in promoting a safe and healthy work environment within an organization. They are responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring effective HSE programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational health, safety, and environmental standards. The HSE Officer actively collaborates with management and staff to prevent workplace accidents and incidents, minimize environmental impacts, and improve overall safety culture. This position requires strong attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to analyze risk factors and provide practical solutions. The HSE Officer also acts as a point of contact for all HSE-related issues, ensuring that timely and effective responses are made to any safety concerns.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive HSE policies and procedures in alignment with regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure continual safety compliance and effectiveness.
- Facilitate risk assessments for various operational activities and develop mitigation plans.
- Create and deliver HSE training programs to enhance employee awareness and capability.
- Investigate workplace incidents and accidents to determine root causes and preventive actions.
- Serve as a key point of contact for emergency response and crisis management activities.
- Collaborate with managers to integrate HSE practices into everyday business operations.
- Maintain accurate records of safety reports, inspections, and compliance documentation.
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.
- Ensure safe disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with environmental regulations.
- Coordinate with external bodies for inspections, audits and to stay updated on regulations.
- Respond promptly to HSE concerns raised by employees, offering guidance and solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Certification in HSE management such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent is preferred.
- Minimum of three years of experience in an HSE role within a similar industry.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in occupational safety.
- Excellent analytical skills for conducting risk assessments and problem-solving.
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise effectively with all levels.
- Ability to lead training sessions and present safety protocols to diverse audiences.
