Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Hull Activities
Carry out hull engineering activities for all new/repair/conversion ships and steel structure fabrication oil gas plants projects. Dimensional Accuracy Control work process of ship block erection alignment and final cutting setting PE blocks, Input data program all the CNC machine plate & H beams & control production process lines.
Conducts site inspection and identifies scope of work based on work specifications/drawings, as identified by the Ship’s Superintendent & Technical information and repair recommendations as required
Plot all repair on location drawings, (Marked up drawing), as sole reference for the total scope of identified/accepted jobs and have it approved by the Ship’s Superintendent.
Develops repair working drawing and detail fabrication drawing for specific job.
Lays out and develops pattern for irregular shapes and transitional pieces.
Issues Work Process for production shops, with detailed instructions to do the job.
Provides man hours and materials estimates for specific job
Provide Job Completion Report for invoicing purposes.
Develops proposal design drawings for new structures, based on customer’s specifications/requirements
Other jobs which will be assigned at the discretion of the Line Manager shall be attended to
Technical Drawings
Drawing clarification for steel structure drawings, Tekla, MCI, CAD software Generating NC files, For NESTING ship repair & steel structure drawings and cutting statistics. Preparing cutting plan for plate, H Beam, angle etc. consumption with minimum wastage.
Quality Control
Ensure adherence to and maintenance of the quality of hull activities including welding and sheet metal fabrication in order to ensure readiness for quality control inspections.
Material Requirements and Use
§ Inventory Maintain stock levels, monitor quality and audit the stocks, Requesting POR for New Project/Repair Study of Class /Design Drawings, Making BQM, Planning & Purchase Order Requisition for Project Material, Estimation of material requirements Selection of materials for the repair as per specification & class of vessels,
Compiling Reports
Compile and prepare technical reports on challenges and issues faced, prioritise issues, materials required, mitigation steps and submit to the Line Manager as required so that he/she is aware of the progress and challenges and can take corrective actions.
Control progress of fabrication/repairing/construction ships and steel structures in the Hull department in order to ensure the hull specifications are as per plan and the work complies with the quality, health and safety standards established at ODC.

§ Follow all relevant Hull departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment
Ensure compliance to all relevant quality, health, safety and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the department to guarantee employee safety, delivery of high quality products/ service and a responsible environmental attitude.
Desired Candidate Profile
Minimum Qualificaions:
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Electrical Engineering/ Naval Architecture or equivalent
Minimum Experience:
4 years of relevant experience in steel structures on the field in a repair ship yard or new ship building or similar work Job-Specific Knowledge & Skills:
Understanding of general drawing, steel structure fabrication and repairing process and working sequence drawing
Communication and interpersonal skills Analytical skills
