Job Purpose
The purpose of the role of the Interior designer is to develop and coordinate interior design solutions for fit-out projects, ensuring compliance with project requirements and company standards, while taking responsibility for technical accuracy, coordination with multiple disciplines, and mentoring junior team members.
Operational Responsibilities
- Develop interior design concepts, mood boards, and space planning solutions in response to client briefs to deliver creative, functional designs that align with client requirements and brand identity.
- Produce design documentation in line with company standards and project requirements to maintain quality and consistency across all deliverables.
- Review Concept, Schematic, and Detailed Design drawing packages to verify accuracy, confirm compliance, and align outputs with client expectations.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritising criticality, to deliver high-quality design outcomes on schedule across all project phases.
- Prepare and present design proposals in client meetings, gather feedback, and address queries to build client confidence and secure approvals.
- Conduct site visits to monitor implementation and resolve design-related issues to safeguard project quality and adherence to the approved design intent.
- Coordinate with project managers and review subcontractor drawings to align design deliverables with timelines, uphold quality standards, and accurately reflect the approved intent before execution.
- Mentor junior designers in design standards, workflows, and project-specific requirements to build team capability and ensure consistent outputs.
- Collaborate with all internal teams to ensure design intergration, and balance design choices with budget constraints and project feasibility.
- Research and apply design trends, sustainability practices, and innovative materials to deliver projects that achieve high-quality, competitive, and future-focused design outcomes.
- Review and mark up joinery and fit-out shop drawings to verify technical accuracy, confirm compliance with design intent, and ensure buildability before fabrication.
Essential (must Have To Perform The Role)
- Bachelors degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related discipline, with
- 5 years of progressive experience in interior design, including exposure to commercial, residential, or fit-out projects, with proven ability to deliver design concepts through to execution and coordinate with cross-functional teams and subcontractors.
- Working proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop.
- Demonstrated capability in space planning, concept design, and development of mood boards, with expertise in producing and reviewing design documentation across all project phases.
- Demonstrated knowledge of materials, finishes, and sustainability practices, with the ability to interpret and mark up detailed joinery and fit-out shop drawings.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare impactful client presentations and reports, and familiarity with estimation and procurement processes to balance design ambition with budget constraints.
- Demonstrated competence in conducting site visits to monitor design implementation and resolve technical issues.
