Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Educate patients on proper eye care practices, lens care, and the importance of regular eye examinations to promote eye health and prevent vision loss.
- Perform specialized testing, such as visual field testing, retinal imaging, and optical coherence tomography (OCT), to aid in the diagnosis and monitoring of eye conditions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting examination findings, diagnoses, treatment plans, and patient progress using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including ophthalmologists, primary care physicians, and other specialists, to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in optometry through continuing education, professional development activities, and participation in relevant conferences and workshops.
- Provide exceptional patient care, demonstrating empathy, compassion, and professionalism in all interactions to ensure a positive patient experience and build trust.
- Conduct comprehensive eye exams, including refraction, binocular vision assessment, and ocular health evaluation to diagnose vision problems and eye diseases accurately.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Holds a valid optometry license in the relevant state or jurisdiction, ensuring legal authorization to practice optometry and provide patient care.
- Has experience in a clinical setting, such as an optometry clinic or private practice, providing hands-on experience in patient care and clinical procedures.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of ocular anatomy, physiology, and pathology, enabling accurate diagnosis and treatment of eye conditions.
- Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective patient interactions, education, and collaboration with healthcare professionals.
- Shows strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, enabling the assessment of complex cases, and the development of appropriate treatment plans.
- Possesses a Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school, demonstrating a strong foundation in optometric principles and clinical practice.
