King s College Hospital London Dubai is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Lead Decontamination to oversee and manage the hospital s sterilization and infection control processes. This critical role ensures the highest standards of hygiene and safety across all clinical areas, supporting our commitment to world-class patient care.

Role Overview:
- The role of Decontamination Lead is to provide leadership and a management service to Kings College Hospital, LLC, Dubai. This position requires a strategic approach to the development of services and structures, embracing continuous quality improvement and the management of changes necessary to achieve organisational objectives.
- The post will be responsible for the provision of a decontamination service for all reusable medical devices, processes and procedures to all clinical areas and services within the organisation.
- The Decontamination lead will be responsible for the development and implementation of decontamination quality management systems in line with current legislation, relevant regulatory authority standards (Dubai Health Authority and Department of Health) and relevant accreditation requirements (JCIA or other).
- The role will also be expected to develop new initiatives to address the changing healthcare environment. It will also demonstrate pro-active management and leadership skills in the delivery of a reliable professional service in line with the organization s strategy.
- To ensure the provision of a quality led, timely and safe services.
- To ensure that all staff directly involved in decontamination services are supervised and trained to an appropriate standard.
- To manage the quality assurance of operational and technical aspects of the decontamination service.
- To provide professional leadership and accountability for additional services across KCH Dubai, including but not limited to laboratories, pharmacy and infection control, ensuring professional development across all grades.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the quality assurance of, monitoring and reporting of the effectiveness of Decontamination Services within KCH LLC s Services, liaising with external bodies and working alongside peers to further enhance the level of Decontamination.
- Responsible for the introduction and maintenance of monitoring, audit, quality and evaluation systems, ensuring that the agreed KPIs are met and service delivery is within budgeted resources, within the Trust.
- Responsible for both on-going and long term (5-10 years) strategic policy development in relation to decontamination across KCH LLC s Services to meet the requirements of specific departments such as Theatre, Dental, Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, Interventional Cardiology, Pharmacy, Infection Control, Laboratories and Medical Physics etc, and 3rd party suppliers.
- Responsible for encouraging improvement in decontamination technology across KCH LLC s services, ensuring continuing development of and adoption of best practice, value for money and the development of policies. Those policy areas may relate to Theatre Practice, Dental Practice, Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, Interventional Cardiology, Pharmacy, Infection Control, Laboratories and Medical Physics etc. to provide staff with the necessary policies to decontaminate patients equipment safely from infection, injury or other harm whilst maintaining the integrity and purpose for each item of equipment was intended.
- Lead in all developments in Decontamination Technology, regulatory and accreditation requirements, and other (e.g. NICE/BSG/JAG/ISO) policy or guidance related to Decontamination Services.
- Through management of the Decontamination Service, the post-holder is responsible for ensuring the continuous provision of specialist clinical technical services to theatres and wards and departments within KCH LLC Services.
- The post-holder will ensure registration and accreditation of all Decontamination facilities is achieved and maintained, by supporting the nominated Leads.
- The post-holder will inspect and be responsible for quality assurance by ensuring that all quality standards relevant to the Decontamination Services are met thereby ensuring that patients are not exposed to iatrogenic disease or cancelled procedures.
- The post-holder will be expected to use their extensive knowledge and understanding of decontamination, clinical and technical processes as well as their in depth understanding of legislative requirements, to analyse any problems encountered and propose remedies and solutions to overcome these difficulties. When there are conflicting opinions and interpretations the post holder must use their extensive knowledge to balance these demands against the need to ensure that ultimately the clinical safety of the patient is not undermined.
Requirements:
- Masters Level or Relevant Professional Qualification preferred.
- DHA Licensed or eligibility; DOH/MOH license
- Specialist Training in the Decontamination of equipment
- Has worked within an appropriate service environment within the last 4 years preferred
- Communication skills able to relate and communicate with patients and staff at all levels and from different professions. Adapts communication style as necessary and is able to work with and through others
- Problem solving skills able to respond to unexpected issues and provide first line response and to identify appropriate sources of secondary support.
