Lead Urban Planner / Master Planner

An internationally recognised multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Lead Urban Planner / Master Planner to join its growing Dubai office.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an accomplished planning professional with a proven track record in shaping complex urban environments, leading multidisciplinary teams, and driving strategic planning initiatives across large-scale developments and city-shaping projects throughout the Middle East and internationally.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in defining long-term planning strategies, leading project delivery, strengthening client relationships, and contributing to business development and work-winning activities across the region.

The Role

As Lead Urban Planner / Master Planner, you will:

• Lead and oversee master planning and urban design projects across multiple sectors and scales
• Drive long-term planning strategies aligned with client and organisational objectives
• Provide leadership across multidisciplinary project teams and mentor junior staff
• Act as a key client interface across a portfolio of high-profile projects
• Lead business development initiatives, proposal writing, and client presentations
• Confidently communicate planning methodologies, design strategies, and project outcomes to senior stakeholders
• Ensure consistency, quality, and technical excellence across all planning deliverables
• Represent the business at industry events, conferences, and thought leadership forums
• Support operational excellence and continuous improvement across planning functions
• Navigate complex regulatory, commercial, and stakeholder environments with confidence

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

• 18+ years professional experience in urban planning, urban design, or master planning
• A degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, or related discipline
• A Master s qualification in Urban Design, Master Planning, or equivalent preferred
• Professional membership with AIA, RIBA, ARB, RTPI, or equivalent recognised institution
• Demonstrated experience leading large-scale master planning and city planning projects
• Strong commercial awareness and proven success in business development and work winning
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and complex project delivery
• Strong presentation and client-facing capabilities
• Ability to lead technical discussions and solve complex planning challenges
