Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough visual and functional inspections of lifting equipment (e.g., cranes, hoists, slings) to identify defects, wear, and non-compliance with regulations.
  • Perform detailed examinations, including Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) where required, to assess the structural integrity of critical components.
  • Prepare comprehensive inspection reports, accurately documenting findings, observations, and recommendations for repairs or replacements.
  • Verify the equipment's compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., LOLER, ASME, EN) and local regulations.
  • Witness load testing and proof load testing of lifting equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to maintenance teams on proper maintenance procedures and best practices.
  • Investigate incidents involving lifting equipment, determining the root cause and proposing corrective actions.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in industry standards, regulations, and technological advancements in lifting equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineers, safety officers, and other stakeholders to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Manage and maintain inspection records, ensuring traceability and compliance with quality management systems.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Hold a valid Lifting Equipment Inspection certification (e.g., LEEA Diploma) or equivalent.
  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the inspection and maintenance of lifting equipment within the oil and gas, construction, or maritime industries.
  • Familiarity with relevant international standards (e.g., EN, ASME, BS) and local regulations pertaining to lifting equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for preparing reports and interacting with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory, with additional language skills considered an asset.
  • Must be physically fit and capable of performing inspections in various environments, including heights and confined spaces.
