Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Seeking a freelance illustrator for a 16 16 cm children s book designed for ages 2 5.
This project is intended to be the first book in a planned series, so the goal is to find the right illustrator for a long-term creative collaboration.
Scope of work for this book:
- 12 full-color, detailed illustrated interior pages
- Front and back cover design
- Character design and overall visual style development
- Professional text placement integrated seamlessly within each illustration
- Final delivery in JPG and PNG
- Source files (PSD or fully layered files)
- Necessary revisions
The work should feel:
- warm
- emotionally intelligent
- thoughtfully crafted
- visually rich
- never generic
Because this is the first book in a planned series of at least six books, this is intended to be a long-term freelance collaboration for the right illustrator.
Desired Candidate Profile
Illustrations must genuinely capture each feeling and moment through expressive, nuanced facial expressions and body language on every page.
All characters must remain visually consistent throughout the entire book.
It is very important to avoid a cloned or AI-generated look where characters feel too similar. Each character should have distinct features, personality, and visual identity.
Illustrations should include thoughtful, detailed backgrounds and a strong sense of life within each scene. Diversity in ethnicity, body types, scale, posture, and movement is highly valued so that each spread feels natural, believable, and visually alive. Foreground and background elements should feel intentional and fully considered.
