Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.
Oversee automotive mechanics in maintenance, servicing and repair of vehicles and/or internal combustion equipment.
- Inspecting, servicing, maintaining, repairing, replacement, adjusting, and testing of vehicles and material handling equipment systems, subsystems and components.
- Assist in the supervision and operation of the TMP, as directed.
- Advise supervisor of matters deserving attention regarding automotive repairs. Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions.
- Ensures work is complete and conforms to standards and requirements IAW technical manuals, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) manuals and local SOPs.
- Assist in purchasing of repair parts/supplies and the maintenance using the appropriate repair manuals.
- Advise TMP personnel on problems encountered in repairs and servicing.
- Perform all duties of skilled automotive mechanic following recognized procedures for such work, as required.
- Cooperate with supervisor to implement policies governing vehicle maintenance.
- Ensures timely and accurate completion of all required documentation/paperwork.
- Train and supervise staff as required.
- Assist in maintaining accountability of personnel assigned to the section.
- Maintains and enforces safety and EHS in day to day operations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Desired Candidate Profile
Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Apprenticeship in Light/Heavy Automobile Repair, Automotive Mechanic or similar preferred
Experience:
- Five years of maintenance experience as a heavy equipment mechanic including some experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy duty construction or completion of a recognized heavy duty equipment mechanic apprenticeship.
- Two years of prior leadership experience.
Skills:
- Must have knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of utility standards and safety programs as governed by rules, regulations, and guidelines.
- Possess proficient English oral and written communications skills.
- Collaborative work style, fostering cooperation, and teamwork.
- Exercise discretion and good sound judgment.
- Intermediate computer skills.
Working Conditions:
- Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, dusty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).
- Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
Physical Requirements:
- Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
