Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the lens manufacturing lab by maintaining and troubleshooting equipment across various departments. This role includes preventive and corrective maintenance tasks and involves collaboration with technicians and supervisors to maintain operational efficiency and safety.

Preventive & Corrective Maintenance: Conduct routine preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment, including lens generation machines, polishers, coaters, tinting equipment, and other production machinery, according to established schedules and manufacturer recommendations. Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs on malfunctioning equipment, identifying and resolving minor technical problems to minimize downtime. Assist senior technicians or supervisors with complex equipment repairs, following their instructions and guidance when necessary.

Equipment Operation & Documentation: Ensure proper lubrication, cleaning, and calibration of equipment to optimize performance and prevent future malfunctions. Maintain clear and accurate records of all maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and parts replacements. Report major equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately for prompt resolution.

Installation & Safety: Assist with the installation of new equipment in the lab, following established procedures and manufacturer instructions. Ensure adherence to all safety regulations during maintenance activities and uphold a clean and organized work environment within the maintenance department.

Additional Duties: Perform other maintenance-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor to support the lab s overall operations. Collaborate with technicians and supervisors to ensure timely resolution of equipment issues, fostering a smooth production workflow.

Desired Candidate Profile

High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training in maintenance or mechanical engineering is a plus. Proven experience in equipment maintenance, preferably in a lab or manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems. Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for equipment handling and repairs. Familiarity with basic electrical and plumbing principles is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with colleagues and supervisors. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Excellent work ethic and commitment to maintaining safety standards.

Proactive and resourceful approach to problem-solving. Familiarity with maintenance procedures in an optical or manufacturing setting. Experience in maintaining a range of lab and production equipment.
