Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Workshop Leadership & Management
    • Supervise, mentor, and coordinate the activities of workshop mechanics and technicians.
    • Allocate tasks and monitor progress to ensure timely completion of maintenance schedules.
  • Equipment Maintenance & Repair
    • Oversee inspection, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of drilling and heavy mechanical equipment (drawworks, top drives, rotary tables, cranes, iron-roughnecks, catwalks, etc.).
    • Ensure thorough preventative maintenance checks and readiness of units prior to offshore dispatch.
  • Quality & Safety Compliance
    • Ensure all maintenance work complies with OEM specifications and industry standards.
    • Enforce HSE procedures and maintain a safe working environment in the workshop.
  • Technical Support
    • Provide remote technical guidance to offshore mechanics when required.
    • Support root-cause analysis of mechanical failures and implement corrective actions in workshop repairs.
  • Inventory & Documentation
    • Manage spare parts stock levels and requisition necessary materials.
    • Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and maintenance schedules.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of mechanical maintenance experience in the oil & gas drilling sector, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory or chief mechanic role.
  • Strong working knowledge of drilling rig equipment, hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and heavy lifting equipment.
  • Experience with onshore workshop operations supporting offshore rigs is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with HSE regulations and mechanical maintenance best practices.
  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Working Conditions

  • Role is based at the company’s onshore workshop, with occasional offshore visits if required.
  • Standard working hours with flexibility for urgent maintenance requirements.
  • Must be physically fit to handle workshop equipment and tools when needed.
