Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily flight schedules to ensure smooth training operations. This role involves ensuring aircraft and instructors are available as per requirements, monitoring student progress, and maintaining operational efficiency. The Operations Manager will act as a key link between instructors, students, and management to support seamless training delivery and adherence to safety and compliance standards.

Main roles will include:

1. Manage daily flying schedules, supervise planning.

2. Ensure aircraft and instructors are available as per training needs.

3. Monitor student progress and coordinate with HT, CFI, and instructors.

4. Supervise operations staff and allocate duties.

5. Prepare the yearly flight hours plan for the aircraft and for flight instructors.

6. Monitor the progress of the yearly flight hours plan.

7. Support instructors, students, and departments in daily activities.

8. Ensure good teamwork and communication across the Academy.

9. Manage aircraft utilization, flight instructors, and simulators.

10. Ensure facilities are ready and safe for training.

11. Follow GCAA and Academy regulations in all operations.

12. Support the Safety and Compliance team by reporting issues.

13. Promote a culture of safety and efficiency.

14. Act as a link between departments, instructors, and management.

15. Provide regular reports on flight hours, operations, and any issues.

16. Handle operational challenges and escalate when needed.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautical Science, or related field (preferred).
  • Relevant GCAA licenses, ratings, or certificates (advantageous).
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in aviation operations, flight training, or related field.
  • Prior experience in a training academy or flight school environment is highly desirable.
  • Proven background in scheduling, resource allocation, and operational planning.
  • Experience supervising teams and coordinating across departments.
  • Strong understanding of GCAA regulations, CAR-ORA, and CAR-FCL requirements.
  • Knowledge of safety management systems (SMS) and compliance practices.
  • Proficiency in preparing and monitoring flight hour plans and utilization reports.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with instructors, students, and management.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle operational challenges under pressure.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends/holidays if required.
