Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end payroll processing cycle, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all payments and deductions.
- Manage and maintain payroll records, including employee data, tax information, and benefit contributions, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Resolve complex payroll issues and discrepancies, providing excellent customer service to employees and stakeholders.
- Stay updated on federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations, ensuring compliance and minimizing risk.
- Prepare and reconcile payroll-related journal entries, general ledger postings, and bank reconciliations.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to ensure accurate data exchange and reporting.
- Lead and mentor the payroll team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Implement and maintain payroll systems and processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and automation.
- Prepare and submit payroll tax filings, including W-2s, 1099s, and quarterly/annual reports.
- Conduct internal audits of payroll processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
Desired Candidate Profile
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience with payroll software and systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paychex) is required.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is highly desirable.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in payroll processing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations, including federal, state, and local requirements.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills are crucial.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
