Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced and meticulous PLANNING ENGINEER CUM COST CONTROL Engineer to oversee the project controls function for our construction projects. This role is responsible for the complete project lifecycle planning, scheduling, cost management, and reporting. The successful candidate will work closely with the project management team, site engineers, and subcontractors to ensure that our construction projects are executed efficiently, on schedule, and within the allocated budget.
Key Responsibilities
Planning and Scheduling:
• Develop, maintain, and update the master construction schedule, from initial earthworks to final handover, using Primavera P6, AutoCAD.
• Create a detailed Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) that aligns with the construction methodology and Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
• Monitor daily and weekly progress of site activities against the baseline schedule and highlight any deviations or potential delays.
• Identify the project's critical path and work with the site team to mitigate risks and bottlenecks.
• Prepare 2-week and 4-week look-ahead schedules for site execution teams.
• Generate and present regular progress reports, including milestone trackers, physical progress S-curves, and resource histograms.
• Prepare documentation and justification for any Extension of Time (EOT) claims.
Cost Control and Management:
• Establish the project budget and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) in coordination with the estimation department.
• Track all project-related costs, including materials procurement, labor, plant & machinery, and subcontractor payments.
• Implement Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to measure project performance, calculating key metrics such as Schedule Variance (SV), Cost Variance (CV), and Performance Indices (SPI, CPI).
• Prepare monthly cost reports, cash flow projections, and Estimate at Completion (EAC) forecasts for management review.
• Analyze variances between actual and budgeted costs and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
• Review, validate, and process subcontractor invoices and interim payment certificates (IPCs).
• Manage the financial impact of change orders and variations, ensuring they are properly documented and approved.
Desired Candidate Profile
• Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in CIVIL ENGINEERING.
• Experience: A minimum of 2 years of direct experience in a project controls role within a construction company. Experience on-site is highly advantageous.
• Technical Skills:
o Mandatory: Expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6, AutoCAD.
o Strong skills in MS Project and advanced proficiency in MS Excel for data analysis and reporting.
o Solid understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and site logistics.
• In-depth knowledge of cost estimation, budgeting, and EVM techniques.
• Familiarity with standard forms of construction contracts is a plus.

o A keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
o Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively between the head office and the construction site.
o Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
