Job Description A Planning Engineer in the Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) industry plays a crucial role in optimizing the use of resources and ensuring efficient project execution. This professional is responsible for developing and overseeing detailed project plans, which include timelines, budgets, resources, and risk assessments. They must liaise with various departments, including procurement, logistics, and production, to ensure the seamless progression of projects. As specialists in OCTG, they possess deep expertise in materials, manufacturing processes, and industry standards related to pipes and tubing used in oil and gas drilling. Possessing strong analytical and leadership skills, the candidate will drive efficiency by using data and sound judgment to make informed decisions. Responsibilities
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans for OCTG operations, ensuring timelines and budgets are adhered to.
- Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to guarantee timely delivery of necessary materials and resources.
- Conduct thorough analysis to forecast project demands and allocate resources accordingly.
- Execute risk assessments to identify potential obstacles and develop mitigation strategies.
- Monitor progress of projects regularly to ensure efficiency and propose adjustments when needed.
- Create detailed reports and presentations to communicate project status to stakeholders, including senior management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and best practices in OCTG and project planning.
- Guide and mentor junior engineers, fostering a team-oriented environment focused on continuous improvement.
- Liaise with external partners and regulatory bodies to ensure that all project activities align with legal standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in Engineering, specifically Mechanical, Industrial, or related fields.
- At least five years of experience in project planning within the OCTG or oil and gas sector.
- Proficiency in project management software, such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets effectively.
- Strong understanding of OCTG, materials, and relevant industry standards and practices.
- Certification in project management, such as PMP, is considered a strong asset.
- Skilled at managing relationships with external vendors and regulatory bodies.
- Commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards across all planning processes.
