How can you make a difference ?

The Programme Officer is responsible for the activities of coordination of the implementation of the Makani programme across Jordan, in the host communities and refugee camps, with a specific focus on its institutionalization process. This includes working closely with the Ministry of Social Development and national partners to ensure that the programme is progressively integrated into national systems and sustainable in the long term.
The Programme Officer will play an important role in supporting coordination with government counterparts, UNICEF programme sections, and operations teams. This role includes programme planning, and support to monitoring, knowledge generation, and reporting.
Key Functions:
1. Programme Coordination and Implementation
• Coordinate programme planning in close collaboration with the Social Policy section and with relevant UNICEF sections and implementing partners.
• Coordinate the day-to-day implementation of the Makani programme, with the UNICEF s Makani team, ensuring activities are delivered according to work plans, quality standards, and donor requirements.
• With the support of the Social Policy, Information Management Officers contribute to monitor progress against agreed timelines and results; identify and flag challenges and delays and propose practical solutions in coordination with the supervisor.
2. Institutionalization and Capacity Strengthening
• Under the overall guidance of the Social Policy Section Chief, contribute to institutionalization of the Makani programme within national systems, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development and other key development partners and stakeholders, including donors supporting the of Makani transition and the experts that they deployed.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of transition plan.
• Contribute organizing technical support to implementing partners, including NGOs and local institutions, to strengthen their capacity to deliver integrated services and comply with Makani standards.
3. Programme Monitoring and Reporting
• Work with the information management teams in the social policy section for monitoring the implementation performance of the Makani programme.
• Coordinate and/or undertake field visits to monitor and assess programme implementation and decide on required corrective actions.
• Contribute to the review of monitoring data and to the preparation of reports on the Makani programme.
4. Programme Resources, Reporting and Partners and Donors Coordination
• Lead the monitoring programme budgets and expenditures to ensure alignment with planned activities and compliance with UNICEF and donor requirements.
• Contribute with the section chief, the Makani team, the Information Management team, and the Partnership and Resource Mobilization Section the preparation of donor proposals and progress reports, and participate in donor visits and coordination meetings as required.
• Contribute to the communication with implementing partners and contribute to reporting processes and documentation of results.
• Contribute to the organization of annual reviews with partners of the Makani programme

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have
Minimum requirements:
• Education: A university degree (Bachelor s degree or higher) in one of the following fields is required: social sciences, international development, public policy, public administration, education, community development, business administration, management, or another relevant discipline
• Work Experience: A minimum of two years of progressively responsible professional experience at the national and/or international levels in programme or project development, planning, implementation, monitoring or administration is required. Experience in working with or managing partnerships with national NGOs is required.

• Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset
Desirables:
• Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
• Experience in working in partnership with government institutions is required (with Ministry of Social Development, is an asset).
