Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Parsons is seeking a Programmer (API) to support the end-to-end delivery of a large-scale Geospatial Digital Twin programme for a major national infrastructure owner in the Middle East. This multi-year initiative will design, build, and operationalize an Operational Digital Twin platform that integrates geospatial data, real-time IoT/SCADA feeds, asset information, and core enterprise systems to enable data-driven planning, operations, and maintenance. The role will work closely with the Software Development Lead, Integration Lead, and a team of international experts, developers, and engineers.
The scope spans discovery and stakeholder engagement, interface and integration design, proof-of-concept delivery, implementation of a production-grade environment, post-implementation support, and structured training and knowledge transfer. The Programmer (API) will help design and implement APIs and integration components, support data and event flows between the Digital Twin and enterprise systems, contribute to testing and performance tuning, and assist in ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable integrations across key Digital Twin use cases.
What You ll Be Doing
-
Support the Software Development Lead and Integration Lead in designing and implementing APIs and integration components for the Operational Digital Twin across discovery, PoC, implementation, and post-implementation support phases.
-
Be responsible for developing APIs, microservices, and related back-end components using agreed languages and frameworks, following defined coding standards and patterns.
-
Help implement integrations between the Digital Twin platform and source/target systems (e.g., EAM/CMMS, ERP, BIM, SCADA/IoT platforms, GIS, data warehouses/lakes) using APIs, web services, and messaging/event mechanisms.
-
Support the implementation of authentication, authorisation, and security controls for APIs and integration components, working closely with the Cybersecurity team and infrastructure teams.
-
Assist in developing automated tests, supporting integration and performance testing, and troubleshooting issues related to interfaces, data flows, and services.
-
Help maintain technical documentation for APIs and integrations, including interface specifications, configuration details, and runbooks, and support post-go-live monitoring and minor enhancements.
What Required Skills You ll Bring
-
Degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
-
Experience developing APIs, web services, or microservices using modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g., C#/.NET , Java , Node.js, or similar).
-
Working knowledge of API development principles and common integration patterns, with exposure to API gateways or management platforms.
-
Basic experience with integrating applications and data across enterprise or operational systems, ideally including at least one of: EAM/CMMS, ERP, BIM, SCADA/IoT, GIS, or data platforms.
-
Exposure to working with relational and/or NoSQL databases and to implementing data access layers and simple data transformation logic.
-
Experience working within multidisciplinary, multinational teams across multiple time zones.
-
Strong organisational and coordination skills, with some experience in structured project or delivery environments (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2, Agile/Hybrid).
-
Exposure to testing, acceptance, or go-live activities for complex or integrated solutions.
-
Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to clearly describe technical work to non-technical stakeholders.
-
Fluency in spoken and written English; Arabic language skills are a strong advantage.
What Desired Skills You ll Bring
-
Prior work with national infrastructure owners, transport authorities, utilities, or public works organisations.
-
Experience working on large-scale digital, Digital Twin, smart city, or integration-heavy platform projects.
-
Familiarity with event-driven architectures, message brokers, and streaming technologies.
-
Professional certifications in software development, integration, or cloud technologies.
