Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Project Engineer – Joinery manages the end-to-end technical and site delivery of custom joinery and millwork packages on UAE fit-out and construction projects. This role bridges the workshop production team and the on-site installation team, ensuring joinery items are fabricated, delivered, and installed in line with approved shop drawings, specifications, and project programme.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all joinery installation works on site including custom cabinetry, wardrobes, wall panelling, reception counters, kitchen units, and decorative millwork.

  • Review and implement approved joinery shop drawings, material submittals, and finish schedules on site and in the workshop.

  • Coordinate joinery works with main contractor, fit-out teams, and MEP subcontractors to ensure clash-free and programme-compliant installation.

  • Liaise with the workshop production team to track fabrication progress and ensure timely delivery of joinery items to site.

  • Prepare and manage RFIs, technical submittals, and site instructions for all joinery scopes.

  • Conduct quality inspections at workshop and on-site: verify dimensions, finish quality, hardware installation, and alignment.

  • Monitor project programme; prepare weekly progress reports and flag delays to the Project Manager.

  • Manage subcontractors and direct labour teams for joinery installation; track productivity and safety compliance.

  • Assist with snagging, defect rectification, and final handover of joinery works to the client.

  • Support the Estimation team with site surveys and scope clarifications during tender stage.


Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or Wood Technology.

  • 5–10 years of joinery project engineering experience in UAE/GCC fit-out or interior contracting.

  • Strong knowledge of joinery fabrication methods, wood-based materials (MDF, plywood, solid wood, veneers), hardware, and surface finishes.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for drawing interpretation; SketchUp or Revit is an advantage.

  • Experience coordinating between workshop production and on-site installation teams.

  • Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
