Qatar Petrochemical Company Q.S.C or QAPCO is among the key producers of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and ethylene in the Middle East. It is located in the Mesaieed Industrial City and was founded as a joint multinational venture in 1974. It was initially set up to utilize Ethane resulting from the production of natural gas and petroleum. In 1981, QAPCO began commercial production and went on to become a successful name in the global market, simply due to its commitment to quality.
The company is 80% owned by Industrial Qatar (IQ,) while the remaining 20% is owned by French company Total Petrochemicals. A total 70% of the IQ share is controlled by state-owned Qatar Petroleum. QAPCO aims to become a highly acclaimed petrochemical supplier with a huge product portfolio. It already boasts a global network of 28 offices, agents, distributors and 6 warehouses. The brand has presence in more than 145 countries across Middle East, Asia, Africa and Australia. Its offices in the Middle East are located in Jordan, Qatar and the UAE. QAPCO has invested majorly in joint ventures like QVC, Qatofin, Ras Laffan Cracker (RLOC) and QPPC. These alliances are running successfully and have been contributing massively to the development of the State of Qatar.
