Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
As a Quantity Surveyor, you play a critical role in the construction industry, working to ensure that building projects adhere to budgets and project timelines. You will be tasked with the responsibility of managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. Your primary goal will be to minimize costs and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required legal standards and quality. This involves preparing and analyzing project costings, forecasting expenditures, managing budgets, compiling tender documents, and negotiating contracts. You will work closely with architects, contractors, and engineers to ensure project success from inception to completion, often being a key figure in decision-making processes that affect the project s outcome.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze costings and estimates for construction projects.
- Manage budgets and keep track of project expenditures efficiently.
- Compile detailed tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
- Analyze and assess project risks, and manage mitigation strategies effectively.
- Coordinate with clients, engineers, and architects during the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and legal standards.
- Conduct site visits to monitor project progress and address issues promptly.
- Engage in negotiations with contractors and suppliers to achieve cost-effective solutions.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives and suggest improvements in project management.
- Conduct feasibility studies to forecast project outcomes and financial implications.
- Prepare regular reports outlining project status and financial performance.
- Participate in project review meetings to ensure alignment with objectives and goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in budget management and cost control in construction.
- Excellent understanding of construction methods and material costs.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills to engage with stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction estimating software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong organizational skills.
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.Professional certification or membership in a recognized surveying institution desirable.
