Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
As a Quantity Surveyor specializing in steel structures, you will play a crucial role in the planning and execution of construction projects that rely heavily on steel components. Your expertise will contribute to the effective management and estimation of project costs, ensuring profitability and efficiency. This position requires a keen understanding of construction and engineering principles, with a particular focus on the intricacies of working with steel structures. You will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to deliver accurate cost assessments and stay within budgetary constraints. Your skills in analysis, numerical proficiency, and attention to detail will be paramount in delivering high-quality structural projects on time and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates of quantities and costs for steel structure projects.
- Collaborate with architects and engineers to ensure accurate project specifications.
- Review and negotiate contracts and subcontracts for construction projects.
- Monitor project costs and budgets, identifying potential cost-saving measures.
- Conduct site visits to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Maintain and update records of work in-progress and completed for accuracy.
- Assist in the procurement of steel materials and liaise with suppliers.
- Analyze project data and prepare detailed progress and financial reports.
- Ensure health and safety standards are adhered to on construction sites.
- Advise stakeholders on cost implications and contract terms on projects.
- Support risk management and mitigation strategies during project planning.
- Participate in post-project reviews to evaluate cost efficiency and performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with steel structures in construction.
- Proven knowledge of cost estimation tools and software in the industry.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
- Technical understanding of structural engineering principles and standards.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
