Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Packaging Development Engineer lead packaging innovation and activities For Bisco Misr from concept to finished goods that are consumer, customer, business & technology relevant.
The job holder will require identifying new packaging innovations, understanding the business, brands and our customers/consumers, working in partnership with Marketing, consumer insights, Operations, Finance, procurement, Sales and relevant agencies in addition to other areas of R&D.
The jobholder will be responsible for the packaging material, structural design and issue specifications for all new packs. Other responsibilities include maintaining technical relationship with packaging material suppliers, representing R&D at project meetings, conducting necessary trials during the development process and artwork approvals pertaining to both packaging material and equipment requirements for the factory.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor s degree in Packaging Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of proven experience in R&D within FMCG companies, preferably in confectionery, biscuits, or snacks categories.
- Solid track record in delivering COGS projects, new packaging development, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrated capability in packaging development, including prototyping, mock-ups, and production equipment trials.
- Strong working knowledge of hygiene standards, food safety, packaging requirements, and basic consumer research methods.
- Excellent communication skills, including fluency in English.
- High level of ownership, urgency, and a positive, action-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency with tools such as SolidWorks (or equivalent), specifications management systems, and Stage-Gate processes.
- Ability to work effectively within multifunctional and multicultural teams.
- Competence in basic scientific experimentation and strong computer literacy, particularly in Excel, Word, and Microsoft Project.
