Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Safe/efficient securing and movement of heavy or delicate loads using portable or mobile equipment. Working in workshops or onboard ship’s afloat in order to lift, lower and move materials or equipment’s.

  • Apply knowledge of safe working loads and proper positioning of lifting appliances and mobile equipment in order to lift/lower/move aside materials and equipment.

  • Slings/clamps object to be moved and hook up; operates by portable lifting equipment.

  • Carry out tests on lifting equipment/lifting gears and weight handling equipment.Dismantles machine to gain access to motors and bearings for extraction.

  • Observe the Company’s Safety Procedures and maintain safe working practices.

  • Observe the Company’s Quality Control Procedures and maintain acceptable working standards.

  • Effects repair, splicing & lubrication of wire and rope cables.

  • Maintain good housekeeping in and around his place of work.

  • Observe good time keeping and maintain a high standard of conduct.

  • Undertake to assist and train any apprentice/trainee allocated to him.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

  • To ensure an acceptable ISO standards of Quality, Environmental, OHSMS and Security Management System and American Petroleum Institute (API) Q1 are maintained in accordance with recognized working practices and the Company’s QEHS&S Manual and Policy.

  • To ensure safe working practices are maintained at all times.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Completion of secondary school or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as Rigger in ship repair industry or similar industry.

    • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

    • Ability to deal with people at all levels.

    • Flexible team-player who easily adapts to an ever-changing environment.

    • Ability to follow directions accurately.

    • Proactive, positive and a high sense of responsibility.

    • Honest, respectful, and trustworthy.

    • Ability to solve problems at workplace.

    • Familiarity working with various tools and equipment.
