Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

To drive business growth by promoting and selling marine engine repair, overhaul, and maintenance services. The Sales Engineer will be responsible for identifying new clients, managing existing accounts, providing technical solutions, and coordinating with engineering teams to ensure customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

1. Sales & Business Development

· Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities in the marine sector (shipping companies, vessel operators, shipyards, offshore units, etc.).

· Prepare and deliver sales presentations, proposals, and technical offers.

· Achieve monthly/quarterly/annual sales targets.

· Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients and decision-makers.

· Conduct market research to understand industry trends, competitor activities, and customer needs.


2. Technical Consultation

· Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable engine repair, overhaul, and maintenance solutions.

· Provide technical clarification on marine engines (main engines, auxiliary engines, turbochargers, generators, etc.).

· Conduct site/vessel visits to assess scope of work and prepare quotations.

· Collaborate with engineering/service teams to ensure feasibility and accurate job costing.


3. Proposal & Pricing

· Prepare detailed quotations, service proposals, and tenders for engine repair jobs.

· Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and service agreements with clients.

· Follow up on submitted quotations to secure orders.


4. Project Coordination

· Coordinate with service engineers, workshop teams, and logistics for job planning and execution.

· Ensure timely delivery of services as per agreed timelines and quality standards.

· Provide regular updates to clients on job progress and resolve any issues that arise.


5. Customer Relationship Management

· Maintain CRM records, sales forecasts, and customer data.

· Conduct post-service follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction.

· Handle complaints, feedback, and ensure prompt resolution.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education

· Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical, Marine, or Electrical Engineering.


Experience

· 4–9 years’ experience in marine engine repair sales or technical service sales.

· Experience in marine engines (MAN, Wartsila, Caterpillar, Yanmar, Cummins, Daihatsu, etc.) preferred.


Technical Skills

· Understanding of marine diesel engines, propulsion systems, and auxiliary equipment.

· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engine manuals.

· Strong proposal writing and job estimation skills.


Soft Skills

· Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

· Strong customer relationship and problem-solving abilities.

· Ability to work independently and meet sales targets.

· Good time management and multitasking capability.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

· Achievement of sales targets.

· Number of new accounts generated.

· Customer satisfaction scores.

· Timeliness and accuracy of technical proposals.
