Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The SAP GEF Consultant will lead the implementation, configuration, and validation of SAP Geo‑Enablement Framework (GEF) to support asset visualization, spatial enablement, and map‑based execution for SAP PM and SAP Asset Manager (SSAM). This role is responsible for technical setup, data enablement, functional configuration, testing, and supporting go‑live activities according to the program plan. The consultant will work closely with PM, SSAM, Basis, BTP, and Business teams to ensure a successful deployment.
2. Key Responsibilities
Discovery & Design
Conduct requirements‑gathering and design‑alignment workshops with PM and operational teams.
Define GEF use cases including asset location, work order visualization, notification mapping, and SSAM navigation.
Establish GEF architecture and deployment model.
Validate feasibility of map overlays for park layouts if standard map sources do not reflect physical reality.
Technical Setup & Enablement
Perform SAP GEF installation, activation, and foundational configuration.
Coordinate with Basis/BTP teams to activate required OData, Fiori, ICF services.
Ensure SAP HANA spatial services and relevant components are correctly configured.
Data Preparation
Enable geo‑coordinates for assets and functional locations using SAP‑standard capabilities.
Execute spatial data enablement including coordinate assignment and validation.
Support business in geo‑data readiness.
GEF Functional Configuration
Configure map layers for:
Technical assets
Functional locations
Work orders & notifications
Setup status‑based symbology, search, filters, and basic routing/navigation.
Enable PM → GEF → SSAM integration for mobile execution.
Integration with SSAM
Enable launch of SSAM objects directly from GEF maps.
Validate online/offline behavior, sync performance, and map‑based execution.
Testing & Validation
Prepare and execute SIT scenarios for all GEF use cases.
Support UAT with business teams, ensuring defect resolution is aligned with standard SAP.
Ensure performance, stability, and completeness of the end‑to‑end spatial process
Desired Candidate Profile
Technical Skills
Strong hands‑on experience with SAP GEF (Geo‑Enablement Framework).
Solid understanding of SAP PM master data, asset structures, and work management processes.
Experience integrating SAP GEF with SAP Asset Manager (SSAM).
Knowledge of HANA spatial services, coordinate handling, and map layer configuration.
Familiarity with OData, Fiori activation, ICF services, and mobility integration.
Functional Skills
Ability to lead workshops and translate business needs into standard SAP GEF configuration.
Understanding of spatial enablement concepts (layers, routing, visualization, symbology).
Ability to support both functional and technical testing stages
