Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Department Definition:
The Facilities, Maintenance, and Warehousing Section ensures that government schools across Abu Dhabi operate in safe, efficient, and well-maintained environments. The section oversees building condition assessments, preventive and corrective maintenance programs, and the supervision of construction and infrastructure projects. It manages service and maintenance contracts, monitors contractor performance, and ensures compliance with technical and safety standards. In addition, the section is responsible for warehouse operations, inventory control, and fixed asset management in line with approved policies and governance frameworks, supporting operational continuity and high-quality learning environments.
Main Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems across assigned schools, including power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, and low-current systems.
- Plan and oversee preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance of electrical infrastructure.
- Supervise on-site electrical works and ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and safety regulations.
- Review contractors technical submissions, method statements, and progress reports, ensuring quality and timeline adherence.
- Ensure compliance with local electrical codes, load requirements, and energy efficiency standards.
- Coordinate with school leadership to schedule works with minimal disruption to academic activities.
- Monitor electrical-related work orders through approved systems and ensure timely resolution.
- Identify upgrade needs, load enhancements, or system replacements and incorporate them into annual planning.
- Support the preparation of technical specifications, scopes of work, and cost estimates (BOQs) for electrical contracts.
- Monitor energy consumption patterns and recommend efficiency improvements where applicable.
- Conduct inspections prior to handover and certify completion of electrical works.
- Support asset verification of electrical systems and ensure accurate documentation and records.
Skills
Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional certifications in Project Management, Facilities Management, Energy Management are an advantage.
- Minimum 5 8 years of experience in electrical maintenance and project supervision, preferably within schools, public buildings, or large facilities.
- Experience in managing electrical contractors, reviewing technical submissions, and certifying payments.
- Practical experience in preventive and reactive maintenance environments, including emergency response situations.
- Strong technical knowledge of power distribution systems, lighting systems, emergency power (generators/UPS), and low-current systems (fire alarm, data, CCTV where applicable).
- Solid understanding of electrical regulations, safety compliance, and load management.
- Proficiency in engineering design and project management software and maintenance management systems.
- Strong analytical, reporting, coordination, and multi-site management skills.
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering.
