• 10+ years of hands on experience in Exchange and enterprise messaging platforms.

Required Skills & Expertise

Technical Skills (Must Have)

• Expert level knowledge of:

• Exchange Server (2016/2019)

• Exchange Online and Hybrid deployments

• Microsoft 365 messaging security stack:

• Defender for Office 365

• Purview (DLP, Retention, eDiscovery)

• Conditional Access

• Strong understanding of:

• AD, Entra ID, DNS, certificates

• Mail flow, transport rules, connectors

• Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation capabilities

Security & Access Control

• Strong understanding of access control, RBAC, least privilege models

• Ability to translate security requirements into enforceable technical controls

• Experience supporting audits, security reviews, and compliance assessments

Communication & Stakeholder Management

• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to Security teams, CISO, management, and auditors.

• Proven experience producing:

• Technical designs and architecture documents

• Security justifications and risk assessments

• Executive level summaries and reports

• Comfortable leading discussions, workshops, and escalation calls with internal teams and vendors.

Key Responsibilities

Exchange & Messaging Architecture

• Design, implement, and support Exchange On Premises, Exchange Online, Hybrid Exchange, and Exchange Edge Transport architectures.

• Lead and execute Exchange migrations (On Prem → Hybrid → Exchange Online), including coexistence and decommissioning activities.

• Optimize mail flow, routing, transport rules, connectors, and external integrations.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex Exchange, mail flow, and client access issues across hybrid environments.

Microsoft 365 & Outlook Client Expertise

Security, Compliance & Governance

Design and manage Microsoft Defender for Office 365 (Mail Defender) policies including:

• Enforce Conditional Access policies for secure access to Exchange Online and Microsoft 365 services.

• Collaborate closely with the Security Team and CISO to align messaging platforms with corporate cybersecurity strategy, regulatory requirements, and audit expectations.

Identity, Access & Infrastructure

• Strong expertise in Active Directory (AD), Azure AD / Entra ID, identity synchronization, and access control models.

• Deep working knowledge of DNS, certificates, network security, TLS, and proxy based integrations.

• Support and integrate messaging solutions with proxy, gateway, and security appliances (email gateways, CAS proxy, inspection devices).

Automation, PowerShell & Operations

• Advanced use of Exchange Online PowerShell and on prem Exchange Management Shell.
