Roles & Responsibilities

About MAKE

MAKE is a dynamic and innovative creative environment that fosters education, collaboration and community through maker culture. We’re seeking a Senior Graphic Designer who will bring exceptional visual design skills to a wide range of print and digital communication projects, helping us communicate our mission through compelling, on-brand creative work.

Job Purpose

To drive creative output across a range of innovative projects and communication campaigns, with a strong background in visual design and demonstrated expertise in both print and digital communication.

The role is responsible for maintaining brand consistency, developing high-quality creative assets, and supporting marketing, community, and operational initiatives through impactful visual storytelling.

Key Responsibilities

Brand Management & Visual Design

  • Maintain and evolve MAKE’s brand guidelines.

  • Ensure consistency of visual language across all platforms and departments.

  • Lead internal brand reviews and visual alignment workshops when required.

  • Secure a consistent brand appearance according to MAKE’s corporate identity guidelines across all published media and content.

  • Visually optimize company pages within social media platforms to increase visibility, brand awareness, and online reputation in line with branding guidelines.

Marketing & Communication Collateral

  • Design marketing collateral including posters, flyers, brochures, reports, and presentations.

  • Design corporate material such as PowerPoint presentations, packaging, labelling, collateral, signage, and any other branded material.

  • Design and format documents and forms used in operations, education, and community programming.

  • Develop newsletter layouts and campaign visuals in collaboration with the Comms and Community Lead.

Social Media & Content Creation

  • Create engaging, brand-consistent content for social media including posts, stories, templates, and animations.

  • Create relevant, original, high-quality content (photos, videos, graphics) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community engagement.

  • Together with the Comms and Community Lead, coordinate visual content creation and campaign design to support organizational activities.

  • Identify and improve organizational knowledge in creating content to support communications and social media.

Photography, Media & Documentation

  • Document classes, events, and maker projects with a clear and natural style.

  • Edit and archive media for ongoing use in content and documentation.

  • Maintain MAKE’s image bank and support visual storytelling needs.

Environmental Branding & Facility Design

  • Lead branding for the MAKE facility including environmental graphics, signage, retail space layouts, and packaging.

  • Coordinate with vendors or installers to deliver spatial branding elements.

Collaboration & Project Management

  • Work closely with the Comms and Community Lead to align messaging and visual tone.

  • Guide and support freelance designers or junior team members when necessary.

  • Manage timelines and version control for all design outputs.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Direct Manager.

Marketing Channels & Campaign Support

The role supports visual content development across multiple marketing channels including:

  • Facebook

  • Twitter

  • Instagram

  • YouTube

  • Snapchat

  • LinkedIn

  • Other channels as required by operations

Together with the Comms and Community Lead, create artwork to support:

  • Product Development

  • Education & Featured Classes

  • Facilities & Equipment

  • Youth and STEAM Programming

  • Monthly and Seasonal Offers

  • Makerspace News

  • Holidays / Opening Hours

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Degree in Design, Mass Communication, Fine Arts, or related field is preferred.

Work Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in lead designer roles or previous senior designer experience.

Knowledge & Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in design software and technologies such as:

    • Adobe InDesign

    • Illustrator

    • Photoshop

    • Figma

    • After Effects

    • Fluency in Arabic and English is preferred.

Competencies & Skills
  • Strong eye for aesthetics and attention to detail.

  • Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas visually.

  • Understanding of social media platforms and how to create visual content tailored to each platform.

  • Positive attitude, customer-oriented mindset, and strong multitasking and organizational ability.

  • Ability to identify potential risks or negative situations and apply conflict resolution principles.

  • Experience in content development and marketing material design following corporate brand guidelines.

  • Ability to quickly learn new software applications.
