The position demands experience in the oil & gas sector and a strong understanding of water treatment systems used in upstream hydrocarbon processing.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operations Management

  • Supervise all operational activities related to water treatment processes associated with oil & gas production.
  • Ensure safe and reliable operation of equipment including filtration systems, chemical dosing units, degassers, clarifiers, and hydrocarbon separation units.
  • Monitor and control process parameters through SCADA/PLC systems to ensure efficiency, safety, and compliance.
  • Maximize plant uptime and performance while minimizing operational risks.

2. Staff Supervision and Leadership

  • Manage operators and technicians during the shift, ensuring tasks are executed safely and in line with Aramco and plant procedures.
  • Facilitate shift briefings and ensure roles and responsibilities are clear.
  • Mentor and train staff on plant operations, safety protocols, and emergency response procedures.

3. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving

  • Promptly identify and resolve technical or process issues related to water treatment in hydrocarbon environments.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve mechanical or instrumentation problems.
  • Ensure incidents are logged, analyzed, and corrective actions are implemented.

4. Quality Control & Compliance

  • Ensure treated water meets Aramco quality specifications and environmental discharge limits.
  • Monitor hydrocarbon levels, oil-in-water content, chemical dosing effectiveness, and overall plant performance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of water quality, equipment performance, and process compliance.

5. HSE Oversight

  • Enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards aligned with Aramco and international regulations.
  • Conduct routine safety checks, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
  • Report, investigate, and take corrective measures for incidents, accidents, or near-misses.

6. Shift Reporting and Documentation

  • Prepare detailed shift reports covering plant status, performance metrics, issues encountered, and actions taken.
  • Maintain accurate logs and ensure a smooth handover to the incoming shift team.
  • Communicate effectively with operations management on plant performance and risks.

7. Stakeholder Communication

  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders including commissioning, maintenance, HSE, and Aramco representatives.
  • Support coordination with other plant departments to ensure seamless operations.
  • Ensure that all plant operations reflect customer and regulatory expectations.

8. Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to optimize energy usage, chemical consumption, and process efficiency.
  • Propose and support the implementation of improvements in operating procedures and system reliability.
  • Participate in regular performance review and planning meetings.

Skills & Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Process Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Certification or training in water treatment, oil & gas plant operations, or HSE systems preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in oil & gas water treatment operations, preferably in upstream facilities.
  • Strong background in handling hydrocarbon-contaminated water, oily water separation, and produced water treatment systems.
  • Experience in working on Saudi Aramco or equivalent projects is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing multidisciplinary operations teams in industrial environments.

Technical Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of water treatment processes in oil & gas contexts (e.g., degassers, CPI/TPI separators, DAF, filtration).
  • Proficient in using SCADA and PLC systems for process control and monitoring.
  • Understanding of Aramco plant operations standards and safety procedures.
  • Familiarity with process troubleshooting, operational optimization, and emergency handling in hydrocarbon-rich environments.

Leadership & Communication:

  • Effective team leadership and personnel development capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills in English (Arabic is an advantage).
  • Capable of making sound operational decisions under pressure.

Problem Solving & Decision Making:

  • Analytical mindset with hands-on problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to quickly assess and respond to technical challenges while ensuring safe and efficient operations.

Working Conditions:

  • Rotational shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Work involves physical activity including site inspections and equipment handling.
  • Exposure to hydrocarbons, chemicals, noise, and high-pressure systems. Use of PPE is mandatory.
