Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Shipping Officer is responsible for managing and executing end-to-end shipping operations, ensuring the accurate and timely import, export and compliance with local and international shipping regulations. The Shipping Officer also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, cost optimization, and process efficiency within the shipping function, supporting overall business and operational goals.
• Handle end to end export of goods from UAE to GCC and Egypt- across land, sea and air mode
• Liase with freight forwarders to receive quotations, compare and confirm the cost, book space on vessel/ arrange trucks to move the shipment to the destination by the required ETA
• Well versed with exports from UAE to Egypt and experienced in managing import clearance in Egypt.
• Well versed with Egyptian import regulations, documentation requirements, working on Cargo X and related systems.
• Work with logistics service providers, brokers, certifying agencies to arrange documentation for seamless movement and clearance in Egypt and GCC across land, sea, air.
• Well aware of export rules from UAE to GCC
• Organising the despatch of goods with completed documentation
• Maintaining trackers with movement milestones, dashboard updates.
• Examining shipping documents and check rates with Freight forwarders for optimal cost and sailing schedule
• Recording customs clearance requirements and bridging the gaps with any missing documentation
• Review vendor invoices on storage, freight and clearance charges and submit for payment
• Providing information on custom tariffs, tariff classifications and concessions, and methods of clearing goods
Desired Candidate Profile
The incumbent holds no direct supervisory responsibilities but is expected to engage effectively within their function and collaboratively across cross-functional teams. This role contributes meaningfully, whether through operational contributions and/or by offering specialized expertise, guidance, and support, to ensure alignment with either functional and/or strategic organizational goals and objectives.
Functional / Technical Competencies
• Knowledge of Supply Chain procedures and best practices
• Understanding of Egypt import regulations, exports from UAE to GCC and rest of the world
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• No previous disciplinary records in for the last 6 months.
• Excellent English and Arabic Communication Skills (Read, Write & Speak).
• Customer Service Oriented Person
