Software Engineer I - Backend

Learn and apply HungerStation s software development standards, tools, and best practices

• Read, understand, and modify existing codebases under supervision
• Assist in implementing simple features, fixes, and enhancements based on clear requirements
• Write clean, readable code following basic object-oriented programming principles
• Perform unit testing and basic manual testing to validate functionality
• Document code changes with clear comments to support maintainability
• Assist in debugging and resolving basic issues with guidance from senior engineers
• Participate in code reviews as a learner and apply received feedback

Work closely with senior software engineers to learn system design and engineering workflows

• Collaborate with the Product Team to understand requirements at a basic level
• Actively seek feedback and demonstrate eagerness to improve technical and communication skills
• Participate in team discussions, knowledge-sharing sessions, and on-the-job mentoring

Follow established engineering policies, procedures, and development processes

• Adhere to coding standards, security practices, and documentation guidelines
• Contribute ideas for improving development practices as learning progresses

Support daily engineering activities to ensure continuity of work

• Complete assigned tasks on time with attention to quality and accuracy
• Communicate progress, blockers, and questions clearly to the reporting manager or mentor
• Maintain a positive and professional approach when working with internal stakeholders
