Software Integration Engineer Cigna

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement integration components and services across enterprise systems.
• Build and support integrations using NPHIES standards, CHI HIDP, IA Data Hub, and similar healthcare or regulatory platforms.
• Develop healthcare integrations aligned with FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) standards.
• Ensure secure integration design following OWASP guidelines and industry best practices.
• Implement strong API Security, including authentication, authorization, encryption, throttling, and threat protection.
• Build, manage, and optimize services running behind an API Gateway (Kong, Apigee, WSO2, Azure APIM).
• Participate actively in application development, contributing code, reviewing code, and ensuring alignment with engineering and architectural standards.
• Work within Agile/Scrum delivery teams ensuring collaborative and iterative delivery.
• Partner with SecDevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and secure deployment practices.
• Support SIT, UAT, performance testing, and production deployments ensuring accurate end to end data flow.
• Troubleshoot integration issues, monitor performance, and optimize integrations for scalability, resilience, and reliability.
• Maintain up to date documentation including interface specifications, mapping sheets, and API definitions.
• Implement and manage containerization using Docker, Kubernetes, and related orchestration technologies.
• Design and support event driven architectures using messaging, streaming platforms, and asynchronous integration patterns.
