Specialist Paediatric Cardiac Surgeon

We are seeking a qualified Specialist Paediatric Cardiac Surgeon to join a tertiary-care cardiac service in Abu Dhabi. The role involves the surgical management of congenital and acquired cardiac conditions in neonates, infants, and children, working under consultant supervision within a highly specialized multidisciplinary cardiac team.

The successful candidate will contribute to safe, high-quality surgical care, service delivery, and ongoing development of paediatric cardiac surgical services.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

• Assist in and perform paediatric cardiac surgical procedures appropriate to specialist level
• Manage pre-operative assessment and post-operative care for paediatric cardiac surgery patients
• Participate in emergency and on-call rotas as required
• Monitor patient progress and manage complications under consultant guidance
• Ensure adherence to clinical protocols and patient safety standards

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

Work closely with:

• Consultant paediatric cardiac surgeons
• Paediatric cardiologists and intensivists
• Anaesthesiology, perfusion, and nursing teams
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions

Governance & Quality

• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
• Comply with DOH (HAAD) regulations, hospital policies, and international best practices
• Participate in clinical audits, morbidity and mortality meetings, and quality initiatives
• Support teaching and supervision of junior trainees where applicable
