Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Day-to-day activities:
Assists physician in conducting patient examinations and provide routine treatments.
Obtains specimen for testing, conducts select routine laboratory tests, and records result.
Performs O.P.D. initial assessment and appropriate plan of care and relays information to physician.
Contact various department personnel throughout the clinic when ordering supplies, obtaining patient medical records, and etc.
Performs related clinical duties such as compiling patient chart information and responds to routine patient inquiries and telephone calls.
Under direction from the physician, performs tests and procedures on patient following established procedures. In doing so, performs ear washers, obtains throat cultures, vaccines and injections, and etc.
Ensures patient chart information is prepared prior to patient admission.
Obtains patient medical records, and inserts appropriate notes, forms and test results.
Maintains patient and clinic confidentiality.
Maintains continuity of care during take-over and handover reports, ensuring that the communication is clear and accurate at all times.
Ensures that doctors? orders and patient management plans are followed and that appropriate steps are taken.
Ensures that the appropriate records of the patients? progress are maintained according to the hospital policies and procedures.
Ensure the safety of the patient, relatives and staff. Reporting untoward incident / accident / staff sickness to the Sister / Charge Nurse.
Maintain current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age and patient clinical conditions. Reports adverse reaction to medicines.
Take an active role in the prevention and control of infection.
Contribute to the induction of new staff acting as a mentor when appropriate.
Participate in the Quality Improvement Program within his / her area of responsibilities.
Be committed to further development of own clinical skills and knowledge actively seeking learning opportunities as appropriate.
Ensures that the record of all drugs, IV fluids, etc, is up-to-date as required by the Pharmacy, and ensures that the rules and regulations governing the administration, storage and custody all of drugs are strictly observed at all times.
Maintain skill and knowledge in using various medical devices such as ECG machine, Defibrillator, CTG machine, Electronic fetal monitors, Gynae instruments and other equipment / machine used in Out Patient Department.
Maintain skills and knowledge by participating various nursing education programs, in-service training, nursing symposium, workshops & etc.
Ensure that the necessary financial records are maintained for the Finance Department.
Staff should be competent as follows:
To obtain and interpret on a 12-lead electrocardiogram.
To assist with laser procedures in the Ambulatory Clinic (Opthalmology clinic).
To administer oxygen, nebulizer and aerosol treatments according to policy.
Complies with the nursing practice standard related to immunization.
To be able to tests visual acuity utilizing instruments provided.
To be able to safely applies / adapts / removes orthopedic cast.
be able to take actions to prevent patient falls.
To promotes healthy, independent behaviors through the education process.
To provides appropriate care for the pregnant women.
To provides care of the antenatal patient with Diabetes Mellitus.
Ability to give MEDICATIONS SAFELY via all routes and relevant to age group and vulnerability of patients according to area of practice.
Participate in patient and family education to help patients and families to better understand and participate in their care and make well informed care decisions.This job description is not an exhaustive list of accountabilities and activities. Desired Candidate Profile

Two years post-basic experience, six months of which must be in the specialty
Previous experience in Middle Eastern healthcare.
Good command of English Language.
Appropriate qualification and statutory nursing registration in the country from where recruited. BSN / RN.
Post-basic course qualification in the specialty.
Valid BLS certificate.
